Strathcona Green Zone

The Strathcona Green Zone Initiative recognizes the strategic opportunity that sustainability offers business. It aims to create a community of businesses, artists, and residents working together to reduce environmental impacts through resource efficiency, pollution prevention, local and/or joint purchasing, and greenhouse gas reductions. By sharing  innovative approaches, Strathcona businesses will build and circulate their expertise to clean up their operations, beautify the streets, infuse the area with economic activity, and build the Strathcona brand.

Green Zone Activities

The Green Zone Initiative builds on the activities and collaborations that Strathcona businesses have already implemented to reduce their environmental impacts. These initiatives include water and energy conservation, greenhouse gas reductions, local purchasing, environmental management systems, efficient buildings, and resource sharing. Leaders in the community participate in the SBIA’s Sustainability Committee, which was formed in 2006.

The Green Zone Initiative aims to highlight existing activities, educate businesses about the business case for sustainability, build momentum for the Green Zone vision, gain media attention, and attract partners and resources.
